Emergency Appointments
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are having a problem with your eyes. Telephone 01273 480303
Our staff are trained to listen to your problem and ask you pertinent questions to establish whether your difficulty should be dealt with immediately or whether we can schedule you into a normal appointment time.
It may be necessary to refer you immediately to your nearest Hospital Casualty Eye Service Department. Under these circumstances we strongly recommend that another person goes with you. This is because it may be necessary for the hospital to put drops in your eyes, which may make seeing your way home difficult.
These drops may cause focussing difficulty and make it unsuitable to drive home. We would therefore recommend taking a taxi or public transport if there is no one else that can take you.
You may also become quite sensitive to daylight. If you have pair of sunglasses, take these with you as well.
Although waiting times are improving, you may like to take a good book with you to while away the time.
In the unlikely event that you are unable to reach us first, the nearest Casualty Eye Department to Lewes is:-
The Sussex Eye Hospital on 01273 606126
